Welcome back to our Meet Monday! Today, Her Adventures gets to sit down with HERA moderator Devan Murray.
HERA: What’s your favorite way to travel? Planes, trains, driving, etc?
Devan: Planes! Even though I have major flying anxiety.
HERA: Hostels, hotels, or homestays?
Devan: Hotels now. My answer would have been hostels 2 years ago lol. #ThisIs30
HERA: Are you a planner or do you go with the flow when you travel?
HERA: Would you rather explore landmarks or local favorites?
Devan: Oh man. Both. I love seeing landmarks. But local exploring makes me feel like I’m really there.
HERA: Tell us about the thing you do that you’re most proud of. Why are you proud of it? What about it is inspiring to you?
Devan: Just proud of where I’m at. Struggled with school and feeling confident. Now I have a great full-time job, living with a boyfriend I never thought I would have.
HERA: What is your favorite travel tip, piece of advice, hack?
Devan: Don’t take 1000 pictures. Chances are, you will miss being in the moment and not remember it later on.
HERA: What is your travel style? How would you describe it?
Devan: I like solo travel but also with friends. I’ve solo traveled to meet up with friends that have been an absolute blast.
Let’s get into the details
HERA: What’s your favorite place that you’ve ever traveled to? Why?
Devan: Probably Ireland. The people you run into there are just so friendly and make you feel like you belong. I really want to retire there. It’s a dream that’ll hopefully come true.
HERA: Have you ever met anyone interesting or made a new friend while traveling? Tell us about it!
Devan: Yes! My friend Julia. We met when we were in line to kiss the Blarney Stone ?, then we met up in Amsterdam. She’s come to Chicago twice and once we were able to meet up! She is a mama now so traveling will look different in the future.
HERA: Was there a time you ever wanted to quit? How did you deal with that situation, or overcome it?
Devan: Yes. My last trip, nothing went right. I got the flu and then strep and then my luggage was lost. Honestly, I cried it out. Then I made the most of what I had in front of me.
